WHY USE AN AXLE BAR?

Improves your grip: The larger diameter of the Axle bar makes it much harder to hold and will seriously challenge your grip once you start loading up the bar. This makes the Axle bar a popular training tool for Strong(wo)man, where grip strength is crucial.

Build your forearm strength: If you train regularly with an Axle bar, you'll quickly notice a difference in your forearms. That’s why the Axle Bar is also popular with bodybuilders who want to develop thick, competition-ready forearms.

Durability: Our Axle Bar is constructed as one solid piece of steel with non-revolving sleeves, so it’s built to last.

STRENGTH SHOP AXLE BAR

The Axle Bar is an essential piece of kit for strong(wo)man, where your grip strength can make or break your performance. Our axle bar has been around for years, and is tried and tested in both and training and elite competitions. But it’s also useful for any strength athlete looking to mix up their training and add more challenge to their lifts.

Due to the thickness of the bar, it’s perfect for grip and forearm training. The knurled sides and centre knurling provide a secure grip, while the solid construction with sleeve plates prevents weight plates from sliding.

The axle bar can be used for a wide range of lifts, including the deadlift, squat, bench press, power clean, and overhead press.

FAQ

How does the Axle Bar improve your grip?
Axle bars are thicker than standard barbells, making them harder to hold. This significantly increases the challenge on your grip and forearms.

How durable is the Axle Bar?
Quality barbells in general are durable, but the Axle Bar is particularly solid. It’s crafted from one solid piece of steel with no revolving sleeves, so it’s extremely durable.

Does the Axle Bar come with a warranty?
Yes, the Strength Shop Axle Bar has a 2-year manufacturer warranty.

A solid investment on a great axle bar

This beast of a bar is a game changer. I love it! First and foremost, it adds versatility to my workouts, especially by how much it challenges my grip and forearms. The day I got it, I started incorporating it into my workouts for all my major lifts and noticed it makes the weight seem heavier because I’m using different muscles that I’m not used to when doing familiar movements, which is fun. This is what I was looking for in a specialty bar; it doesn't replace my daily driver, but it can be used in every workout to get something new and different out of it.
The knurling (which I’d rate at standard/passive knurling) is both aesthetically pleasing and serves to better keep a good grip when you start hitting higher rep volume. The weights slide on the smooth sleeves almost silently, so it doesn’t make that ribbed sleeve zipping noise that other barbells do, which is nice. It’s a great bar. The price is so good, too. No buyer’s remorse on this one.
Also, a huge bonus: the delivery was surprisingly cheap (in a very positive way) and rapid. Within 48 hours it was at the doorstep.
Lastly, I always tell my wife this when she says I don’t “need” another bar: the real investment is in your health. If this axle bar makes you excited to work out and the thought of using it drives you to get up at 0430 on a cold rainy Monday morning and get in an hour of heavy lifting before starting the rest of your week, then it’s worth the investment.

Personal favourite

A very well priced and sturdy thick bar that handles drops with no problem. The knurling is semipassive and won't offend anyone unless only a smooth bar will do. The bar is massive, weighing in at just about 20kg and is very different than the hollowed out thick pipe-bars on the market. Factoring in shipping this is at the moment of writing this review the best value option out there. I highly recommend this specialty bar.
