Riot MRR Functional Trainer (Expected availability: October 2026)
The Riot Functional Trainer – Versatile 4-Point Cable Training System
Availability expected from October 2026.
The Riot Functional Trainer is a heavy-duty 4-point cable training system designed to deliver maximum versatility in modern strength training environments. Built around the same structural dimensions as the Riot MRR rack system, it can function either as a standalone cable machine or as a fully integrated module inside a Riot rack or rig setup.
This modular approach allows gym owners and athletes to combine traditional barbell training with advanced cable training in a single station, creating a compact and extremely versatile strength training solution. Whether used in commercial gyms, strength facilities, X-Fit boxes or high-end home gyms, the Riot Functional Trainer enables a wide range of functional exercises, isolation work and full-body cable training.
The system is built with four independent cable pull points, offering exceptional training flexibility. Two adjustable cable trolleys allow users to position the cables at multiple heights, making movements such as cable crossovers, flyes, curls, triceps pushdowns, face pulls and rotational core work possible. In addition to the adjustable pulleys, the machine includes two dedicated lat pulldown stations and two low row stations, enabling multiple exercises to be performed simultaneously.
Each pulley rotates freely, allowing 360° movement in any training plane. This makes the machine particularly effective for functional strength training, athletic conditioning and movement-based exercises where natural movement patterns are essential.
A key feature of the Riot Functional Trainer is the 2:1 pulley ratio used on all cable pull points. Compared with traditional 1:1 cable systems, the 2:1 ratio provides longer cable travel and a significantly smoother resistance curve. The reduced inertia and improved resistance control make exercises feel more fluid and precise, which is especially beneficial for controlled hypertrophy training and technical movements.
The system uses two independent weight stacks of 120 kg each, with 5 kg increments. This allows athletes to adjust resistance accurately and makes the station suitable for users of different strength levels. For facilities that require higher loading capacity, the stacks can be upgraded with an optional +30 kg extension.
The frame design of the Functional Trainer has been carefully engineered to work seamlessly within rack environments. The weight stack system is offset within the frame, creating additional space inside the station. This allows a bench to be rolled into position easily and ensures that barbell exercises such as squats can still be performed in the rack without interference from the cable system.
The Riot Functional Trainer is constructed for heavy daily use. The frame is built from mild steel with 75 × 75 × 3 mm uprights, providing the structural rigidity required in professional training environments. High-quality aluminium pulleys and stainless-steel guide rails ensure smooth cable movement and long-term durability, while the cast-iron weight stacks deliver consistent resistance over years of training.
The system also includes an integrated footplate for comfortable positioning during seated rowing movements. An optional leg and hip roller attachment can be added to support athletes during heavy lat pulldown exercises. This attachment can also be used on compatible racks for movements such as hip thrusts or split squats, further expanding the exercise possibilities.
EXERCISE VARIETY
Because of its modular design and multi-station setup, the Riot Functional Trainer supports an extremely wide range of exercises including:
- Lat pulldowns
- Seated cable rows
- Cable crossovers and chest flyes
- Triceps pushdowns
- Biceps curls
- Face pulls
- Core rotations and woodchoppers
- Cable lunges and lower body work
- Functional athletic movements and conditioning drills
The combination of modular rack integration, dual weight stacks, smooth pulley mechanics and four independent cable stations makes the Riot Functional Trainer a powerful addition to any strength training facility.

Can the Riot Functional Trainer be used as a standalone machine?
Yes. The system can be installed independently by mounting it to a wall or by using the Riot MRR long feet for a freestanding setup.
Is the Functional Trainer compatible with all Riot MRR racks?
It is compatible with Riot MRR racks with 2100 mm and 2300 mm height. It is not compatible with the 1800 mm rack version.
Why does the system use a 2:1 pulley ratio?
A 2:1 ratio provides longer cable travel, smoother resistance and more precise weight adjustments. It also reduces inertia and makes exercises feel more controlled.
Can the weight stacks be upgraded later?
Yes. A +30 kg upgrade per stack is available. However, installing additional weight plates later requires partial dismantling of the system.
What is the maximum load for attachments?
Each cable pull point can handle the full weight stack. The maximum load for attachments depends on the attachment itself.
